The House Diaries – The one with the decorating

566491_10151323906371180_1323385762_oI’m frustrated, really just quite fed up.  In fact, I’m so fed up I could poke my eyes out.  My house is the cause of this…. We’ve been living here almost 5 months and we still haven’t finished decorating; we are still living with chip-board flooring upstairs and tiled flooring downstairs (we ripped up the carpets because the previous occupants left fleas for us! How kind!?).  The chip boards upstairs are just downright dangerous… Nails poking up (Princess Pants fell and cut her chin on it!), and the carpets we ripped up were stapled down and some of the staples snapped as we were pulling up the carpets.

I have been looking forward to this month because in February and March we don’t need to pay for our Council Tax.  That means we will have over £200 free to spend on carpets for the kids rooms.  However, it also means I need to get my arse into gear and finish painting the kids rooms.  Currently the walls are painted (with the exception of the mural wall in Boyo’s room), but the woodwork is cream gloss and you can’t beat white in my opinion.

Next week is half term, which means I won’t have time without the children to crack on, but when they get back to school, Princess Pants’ bedroom will be finished.  Then it’s on to Boyo’s mural and the woodwork glossed!  Then I will be able to measure up, ready to order the carpet!

Once the carpets are in, I can remove the boxes containing PP’s bed, and the mattress from my bedroom.  Oh, I really am looking forward to getting my bedroom back.

  1. Only five months and your house is still upside down?! We've been in ours 4 years and there's still stuff I'd love to get finished. Life and lack of money has just got in the way. You'll get there xxx
